Edythe Parker Obituary

Edythe Vonceille Parker, a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, January 31st, 2025. This is the same place of her birth on December 19th, 1941, and she was 83 years old.

Vonceille graduated from Lake City High School in 1960. She graduated from the Virginia Farrell Beauty School in 1961, and her career spanned over 60 years. She was also employed at Rexair for over 10 years. She frequently attended the Seventh Day Adventist Churches in Lake City, Mesick and Cadillac with all four boys in tow. She served on the Mesick Community Schools Board of Education, and was involved in many groups and organizations.

Vonceille loved the holidays…especially decorating for Christmas and making floats for the 4th of July Parade in Lake City. She also took great pride in being a farm girl and learned at a very early age the advantages of recycling and repurposing just about everything.

Family was very important to Vonceille. She could always be counted on to help a loved one in need. She is survived by her four sons: Maury (Cyndi) Geiger, Monty Geiger, Merrick Carpenter, and Myron Carpenter. Her siblings: Lynn Parker, Pat (Carol) Parker, and Shirley Parker (sister in law). Her grandchildren: Ric Geiger, Olivia Geiger, Cameron Carpenter, Ben Griswold, Bethany Griswold (Jared Wright, fiance), Gaige Saunders, and Ashley Carpenter. Great grandchildren: Carson Geiger, Marion Smith, Knolyin Vizenor, Azaleigh Wright, and Brynleigh Wright.

Vonceille was preceded in death by her parents: Edith & JB Parker, siblings: Glennice (Barney) Harris, Norm (Charlie) Parker, Ben (Joyce) Parker, Jay (infancy), Enid (infancy), Rod Parker, Theron (Pat) Parker, Clara Handy (sister in law), and Kristie Carpenter (daughter in law).
