Elaine M. Berger, age 86, of Prudenville passed away on Thursday February 13, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.
Elaine was born on April 14, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Lowell and Catherine (Sipola) McBurney . She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit. Elaine was married on January 17, 1959 in Detroit to James R. Berger. She retired after working 30 years as a teller and later loan officer for PNC Bank. The couple moved to Prudenville in 1999 after retiring. She was a former member at White Deer Country Club & Golf Course and golfed on several of the leagues over the years. She enjoyed spending time in her yard tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Elaine was very crafty, she could take something that was old and turn it into something beautiful. She enjoyed sewing and making different upholsteries, enjoyed getting together with the ladies and playing cards or just chatting.
Elaine is survived by her daughter; Cathy (Ray) McLeod of Houghton Lake, grandchildren; Dana (J-Lou) Berger, Amy (Chris) Cherewick, and Courtney (Julian) Aguirre, great grandchildren; Graysen, Payton, Camden, Everett, J-Lou and Jenesis, and her dog; Divot, nieces; Andrea (Nick) Schemanske, Jennifer McBurney, Kathi (Mark) Cole, nephews; Jim (Julie) Davenport, Mark (Cristie) Davenport and Dan (Stephanie) Stover. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, and sons; Larry Berger and Daniel Berger and brother; Ron.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 28, 2025 at White Deer Country Club in Prudenville from 1 pm - 4 pm. Memorial contributions in memory of Elaine are asked to be directed to White Deer Country Club. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
