Elaine Joyce Porter

Elaine Joyce Porter, age 82 of McBain passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at home.

She was born August 8, 1936 in Bendon, Michigan to Chester and Pearl (Smith) Beaton. She married Marvin L. Porter October 23, 1954 in    Kingsley.

Elaine was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians in Manistee where she was employed as an administrator. She served for nine years on the Tribal Council Board, the Housing Commission and Management Board and she was Chairman of the Board of Directors.

She is survived by her husband Marvin, three children: Marlaine         Williams of Akron, MI, Janet (John) Erwin of Dallas, TX and Timothy Porter of McBain, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a brother Daniel (Karen) Ward of Ionia and sisters Velva (Don) Emmer of Haslett, Sally (Bill) Bell of Manistee and Susan   Davis of Colorado. 

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, sons: Marvin Jr and Alan Porter and a sister, Joan Spalding.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City with Pastor Steve Boven officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
