Floyd Dee Wallington Obituary

Floyd Dee Wallington, 88, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Friday June 13, 2025 at My Michigan Medical Center, West Branch.

Dee was born on October 28, 1936 in Houghton Lake, Michigan to Benson and Edith (Jones) Wallington. He grew up and attended school in the Houghton Lake area.  As a young man he worked for Lakeside Dairy picking up milk in cans from the farms and delivering it to the dairy.  He later worked for Jess Stanley in his gravel pit for over 10 years.  Dee then worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and truck driver for the Roscommon County Road Commission for many years before his retirement.  He was married on August 23, 1958 in Houghton Lake to Juanita Marie Corser. Dee enjoyed gardening and deer hunting.  He especially liked keeping busy at work projects and spending time with his family.

Surviving Mr. Wallington are his loving wife of 66 years, Juanita Marie Wallington of Houghton Lake; two daughters, Christine (Rick) Oates of Gastonia, NC, and Kimberly (Alan) Norman of Lake City; son, Stanley (Deb) Wallington of Houghton Lake; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Seth, and Caleb Arrant, John, and Hannah Oates, Lerita Reinky, Cameron Wallington, Nicholas and Wade Norman; nine great grandchildren; sister, Rose Underhill of Rapid City; brother, Gene(Deanna) Wallington of Houghton Lake; and several nieces and nephews.  Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; son, Melvin Benson Wallington;  two sisters, Sarah Riedel, and Lucille Gray, two brothers, Delbert Wallington, and Bill Wallington. 

Memorial Services for Floyd Dee Wallington will be conducted at 11:00am Friday June 20, 2025 from the Merritt-Butterfield Community Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00am until the time of the service at 11:00am. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the services, please stay to share your memories of Dee. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake at a later date with a family service. Memorial contributions in memory of Dee are asked to be directed to Heartland Hospice or Merritt-Butterfield Community Church. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
