Frank Sheldon Nowland

Frank Sheldon Nowland, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, May 27,2025 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. He was 68.

Frank was born on February 14, 1957 to Edward  and Carmoneta (McCauley) Nowland, Sr. in Reed City, Michigan. Frank raised three children with his wife, Laurie Nowland. He spent his career working several jobs over the years from farming, to factory work and even janitorial work for many years, he always managed to keep busy. Frank would also do jobs helping friends and family and was always the strongest of the group. Frank loved spending time outdoors going fishing with his wife Anna, working in his garden, going for walks, golfing and deer hunting (often referred to as nap time). There was even a famous quote of "quiet, Frank Nowland is sleeping in his deer stand". Frank took after his dad with his love for coffee; he couldn't start his day without enjoying 2 to 3 pots, usually containing lots of sugar. He loved making people smile and had a knack for cracking a joke, usually a bad joke, especially to anyone new he met. He would often ask a question and respond "say yes or no.....but always say no". Frank later entered into marriage with Anna Smith, the couple spent 12 years together until her time of passing in February 2025. Frank had a big heart and loved helping people in any way he could. He strived to remain loyal, honest, loving and giving throughout his entire life. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, and would stand his ground for the people he cared for most.
  
Frank is survived by his loving children, Willis (Charlotte) Nowland, Thomas Nowland, and Angela (Jason) Gipson; step-children, Dwayne "Dewey" (Trish) Chamberlain and James (Jennifer) Henry; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Marie Johnson, Shirlene "Smitty" (Roger) Nowland-Richardson, Larry (Sheryl) Seeley, Carmoneta (Stan) Romatz, JoAnn Nowland,  Rita (Glen) Moggo, Beth (Larry) Ashby-Hummel, Suzie Nowland, Carl (Diann) Nowland, Kandi (Bill) Breininger; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Carmoneta; wife, Anna; grandson, Anthony James Nowland; siblings, Sarah Nowland, Robin Nowland, David Nowland, Cozette Seeley, Robert “Bob” Nowland, Richard Ashby, Darwin Johnson, Gary Nowland and Edward Nowland Jr.
  
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 2 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home.
