Franklin "Frank" R. Green

Franklin Roy Green, 85, of Houghton Lake, MI, formerly of Saginaw, MI, passed away on May 6, 2023, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, MI.

Visitation will be held at Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church, located at 5599 W. Houghton Lake Drive, Houghton Lake, MI 48629, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 10:00 am – 12 noon, followed by the funeral service at 12 noon. Arrangements have been made through Christler Funeral Home- Prudenville Chapel. 

Frank was born on April 19, 1938, in Saginaw, MI, to Kenneth C Green, Sr. and Eva Bloomer. He was the second son of four children. In a military wedding, he married JoAnn Rexius of Houghton Lake, formerly of Saginaw, MI, and they had been married for 65 years. Frank was a master electrician who worked at Saginaw Malleable Iron for 25 years before retiring. He then worked as an independent electrical contractor with Frank Green Electric in Houghton Lake for 12 years. Frank held a US patent for General Motors and received several awards for innovation and production efficiency. JoAnn and Frank attended Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church, and Frank gladly volunteered his time and service to Artesia (a youth community center), Habitat for Humanity, and Samaritan’s Purse. Frank was always happy to serve and lend a helping hand. He served with the US Marine Corp from 1958 – 1961 at Camp Lejeune, NC, and most notably served on Project Mercury with the US Navy.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth C. Green, Jr. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Green, sister Kay (Jim) Frahm of Frankenmuth, MI, brother James (Mary) Green of Bay City, MI, three children, Laura Green of Dallas, TX, Julie (Green) and Tom Wisnewski of Zionsville, IN, and Thomas and Shelley Green of Saginaw, MI, as well as grandchildren Brittany and Daniel Larson of San Diego, CA, Nick and Amanda Wisnewski of Houston, TX, Kevin and Ashley Wisnewski of Portland, OR, Rob Courtney of Boulder, CO, Drew Courtney of San Diego, CA, Steven Wisnewski of Austin, TX, Jared Wisnewski of Zionsville, IN, Garrett Weslock of Alpena, MI, and Shayna and Gage Kienitz of Saginaw, MI, and three great-grandsons, Vann and Coast Larson, Aleksy Wisnewski, and one great-granddaughter, Lily Kienitz, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Frank will be greatly missed.
