Frederick E. Neubecker

Frederick E. Neubecker, of Houghton Lake, formerly from Jackson, passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 84.

In1960 at age 19, he married his high school sweetheart, Yvonne Kryst. They became the foundation of a large, loving family to whom Fred was deeply devoted. Fred and Yvonne raised six children, his greatest pride and joy.

Fred worked in the family businesses, Kreuer & Neubecker and Neubecker Electronics. He served a decade with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Mounted Division, earning the rank of Captain. In 1983, he joined the Michigan Department of Corrections in Jackson, where he worked as a security supervisor, retiring as Sergeant in 2003 after 20 years of service.

Fred enjoyed horses, hunting, farming, and camping; among his favorite trips was their three-month cross-country adventure exploring Alaska.

Fred was a man of quiet strength, delightful grumpiness, unwavering faith, steady values, and a deep love for his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Marie, and daughter-in-law Christine.

Lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Yvonne; children Fred (Eva), Jeff (Stacy), Scott (Sarah), Marsha (Mark) Kerpet, Sharon (Craig) Potvin, and Joseph; grandchildren Fred, Nikki, Kyle (Courtney), Andrea, Maddie, Alex, Alec, Nathan, Ashlyn, Wil, Luke, Holden, Kyle (Ashley), Collin (Emily), Claire, Will, and Lucy; and nine great-grandchildren Kloe, Lilly, Izabella, Freddy, Riley-Lynn, Harper, Marley, Mayva and Clint. He is survived by his sister Arlene (Jack) Holzworth, sister-in-law Ellie Beck, brother-in-law Mike (Lynn) Kryst and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fred’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him in every family gathering, every campfire by the lake, every walk in the woods, and every story shared with a smile.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Church located at 711 Martin Luther King Jr Dr., Jackson, Michigan.
