Gail Johnson Obituary

Gail Annette McCrimmon Johnson, of Marion, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, service, and quiet strength that touched countless lives.

Gail was born on January 3, 1956 in Cadillac, Michigan. After graduating from Marion High School, she went on to receive her training as a Registered Nurse from Butterworth School of Nursing in 1978. Gail answered her calling to care for others with both skill and heart. She began her nursing career in Lansing then continued her work at Memorial Hospital in St. Joseph, where she faithfully served for 12 years. Later, she joined Mercy Hospital in Cadillac, where she dedicated 28 years of faithful service before retiring. During this time, she became known not only for her clinical expertise, but for her calm presence, warm smile, and unwavering advocacy for those in her care. Colleagues respected her professionalism and teamwork, and patients remembered her kindness long after they left her care.

On June 24, 1978, Gail married Dale M. Johnson, at the United Methodist Church in Marion. Together they built a life grounded in faith, partnership, and devotion to family. Gail was a proud and loving mom to three children and a cherished Gigi to eleven grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. Nothing meant more to her than time spent with her family, whether gathered around the table, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Gail was also a faithful member of Lake City Christian Reformed Church, where she built lasting friendships and continually strengthened her faith in the Lord. Her church family was an important part of her life, and she found great comfort and purpose in worship, fellowship, and service.

Her loving service to everyone was more than career or duty; it was an outworking of her generous spirit seeking to live her faith exemplified in Phillipians 2:4 ”Let each of you look not only to your own interests but also the interest of others.” She will be remembered for her loving heart, steady strength, unwavering faith in Jesus, and deep devotion to her family. Her life stands as a testament to the profound difference one caring nurse, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant can make.

Gail is survived by her loving husband, Dale Johnson; children, Eric (Christina) Johnson of Mount Pleasant, Amy (Bobby) David of Farmington, and Alex (Chetta) Johnson of Lansing; grandchildren, Emmaline, Eliana, Amos, Briella, Lucy, Asa, Betsy, Thea, Luke, Emily, and Julia;  brothers, Grant (Sandy) McCrimmon and Gary (Dawn) McCrimmon, both of Marion; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Imogene McCrimmon.
