Gale S. Rodgers, 81, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at home with loving family by his side.
Gale was born on October 25, 1944, in Owosso, Michigan, to Gale and Betty (Rundell) Rodgers. He grew up in the Owosso area, graduating from Owosso High School. Gale went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Central Michigan University. He served as a SP4E in the Army during the Vietnam War. In Indian River on July 15, 1967, Gale was married to Jeanette A. Maybank. Gale worked as a Claim Examiner for the State of Michigan in the Unemployment Offices in Alpena and Petoskey, retiring in 1997. He also worked at the Alpine Center for Special Needs Children and the Special Olympics in Gaylord. Gale was an avid Detroit and U of M sports fan, and loved spending his time watching his grandsons play in their sporting events. He enjoyed artwork with drawings and illustrations, along with being an excellent cook and being a good chef; nobody entered his kitchen without his overlooking eyes, making sure things were done correctly. The couple loved traveling, especially their trips to Florida for the winters.
Surviving Mr. Rodgers are his daughter, Kim Rodgers of Houghton Lake; two sons, Scott (Edith) Rodgers of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Matthew (Jennifer) Rodgers of Clare; grandchildren, Cody (Jowie) Rodgers, Travis (Kaylee) Rodgers, and Andrew Rodgers; great grandchildren, Aubree, Ivee, Indiana, and Baki; two sisters, Joanne (Don) Stevens of Boyne City, and Sandy Beatty of Indian River; brother, Tom Rodgers of Boyne City; several nieces and nephews. Gale was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette A Rodgers; and grandson, Camron.
A Celebration of Life Service for Gale S Rodgers will be conducted in the spring. Memorial contributions in memory of Gale are asked to be directed to the family.
