Gene Clifford Allen, 81, of Clare passed away on Sunday September 14, 2025 at home with his loving wife by his side.
Gene was born on January 12, 1944 in Lansing, Michigan to Charles and Mildred (Conrad) Allen. He grew up in Lansing until moving to the Harrison area as a teen. Gene then went on to graduate from Harrison High School. On December 7, 1974 in Houghton Lake Gene was married to Carol L. Ferguson. He worked as a Youth Specialist for Camp Nekomis for many years before his retirement. The couple enjoyed traveling around the United States following his retirement. Gene spent ten years as a firefighter on the Markey Twp. Fire Department. He enjoyed camping and woodworking, and was an avid fisherman.
Surviving Mr. Allen are his loving wife of 50 years, Carol L. Allen of Clare; four daughters, Angela (Filip) Schort of Clare, Korin Pratt of Reed City, Tomasia (Steve) Guy of Hersey, and Katherine (Lenny) Kauffman of Houghton Lake; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Robert Pratt; four brothers, Lyle, Larry, Raymond, and Archie, and two sisters, Barbara Williams, and Norma Harley.
The family of Gene C. Allen will hold Celebration of Life Services at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Gene are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.
