Genevieve "Gen" Jenema, age 93, of Falmouth passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019
at Munson Health Center in Traverse City.
Genevieve was born May 16, 1926 in Aetna Township of Missaukee County to Neil
and Alice (Baas) Doornbos.
She married Donald B. Jenema April 24, 1944 in Falmouth. He preceded her in
death November 9, 1985.
Gen’s family would like you to remember her as a humble person who openly
and lovingly welcomed family, friends and neighbors into her home for coffee,
cookies and conversation.
She was a member of the Clam River Chapel and Ladies Aide Society and Sunday School teacher throughout her early membership.
Gen loved to decorate her adorable “doll house” home and invite people in to sit and visit awhile.
She loved ceramics, sewing, gardening and especially loved cardinals and lighthouses.
She had many favorite songs, but one in particular was “The Old Lighthouse.”
Additionally, a song that she said she sang (sometimes out loud to herself before going to sleep) was one by Jim Reeves entitled “An Evening Prayer.”
Oftentimes it was the seemingly small things she would do that would go unnoticed to others, but yet made a heartfelt lasting memory for that person. She never ceased to pray for her family and those in need. She would remind us to “never give up praying on the brink of a miracle.”
Her road and journey had become long and hard but when Love came calling she happily arrived at her final, long awaited Heavenly destination forever secured in her Lord’s warm embrace.
We will never lose sight of the path that her love set for us and we know without a doubt that she would not want you to miss one step along that path in memory of her. We have lived with her in our hearts and that will never change though now we are apart.
Genevieve is survived by her children: Judith (George) Gruenberg of Lake City, Duane
Jenema of South Dakota, Karen (Don) Perkins of Ionia, Russell Jenema and
Alvin (Cora) Jenema both of Falmouth and fifteen grandchildren, twenty six great
grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchilden.
She is also survived by a brother, Clifford (Helenjene) Doornbos of Grand Rapids,
and sisters, Kay Hofstra of Lucas and Dee (Jack) Frueh of Grand Rapids.
