George Baker Obituary

George S. Baker, 80, of Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday February 9, 2025 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

George was born on June 19, 1944 in Trenton, Michigan to James Lee and Ursula Louella (Trombley) Baker. He grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan where he graduated from Roosevelt Senior High School. George went on to earn his associate degree and become a Registered Respiratory Therapist. He worked for Wyandotte General and Providence Hospitals in Wyandotte/Southfield, Michigan, respectively, for 38 years. When he retired in 2002, George moved from Warren to Houghton Lake. He was a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles Arie #3201 and attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. He enjoyed helping at luncheons at the church and volunteering at the school. He was very active in many Eagles club events.

Surviving Mr. Baker are his two brothers, James M. Baker and wife Dolly of Wyandotte, Robert M. Baker of Grayling, sister, Beverly M. Baker of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his lifelong companion, James Pulice, his parents, James(Bud) and Ursula Baker, brothers, Claude Francis Baker and Roger Lee Baker, wife Edna (Bebee) Baker, and sister, Betty Lou Baker.

Services for George S. Baker will be conducted at 1:00pm Wednesday May 28, 2025 at Roscommon Twp. Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of George are asked to be directed to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church or the Houghton Lake Eagles.
