Georgeann “Georgie” Celia Hooker, age 71 passed away peacefully in her
home in Manton on Thursday, May 7, 2020.
She was born December 31, 1948 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Lawrence and
Madeline (Lazarus) Dorothy.
Georgie was a 1966 graduate of Wai’anae High School in Honolulu. She later
moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan and met the man of her dreams.
She married Joseph Hooker Sr. on November 14, 1969 and they began their
lives together in Kalamazoo. Together they had two sons, Joseph Hooker Jr.
and Clayton Hooker. In 1982, they moved to Manton, Michigan and built a home with
the helping hands of their two children.
Georgie worked many jobs over the years including owning her own floral shop and
operating a cleaning business with her daughter in law. She was a realtor, a tax specialist
and a receptionist/patient transport for a nursing home. Of all her jobs, her favorite was
being a wife, a mother, a Tutu (grandmother) and a Great-Tutu.
Her face lit up each and every time she saw her kids and grandkids.
Georgie enjoyed chatting with her friends and family, playing a good game of Scrabble,
gambling with her husband, making jewelry and other crafts, decorating for holidays,
baking, attending church and her annual garage sale. She could often be found in the
comfort of her own home with her Hawaiian records playing, dreaming of sunshine and warmth.
She truly missed her homeland of Hawaii.
Georgie is survived by her son: Joseph (Jerri) Hooker Jr of Manton, and four
grandchildren: Daric (Brandy) Foust, Jeremy Foust, Ruby (Anthony) Larr and
