Glenn Ruhlig Obituary

 

Glenn Ruhlig, age 86, was promoted to glory and entered into eternal life on January 6, 2022 with his loving family by his side.

Glenn was born on April 29, 1935 to the late Fredrick and Gertrude (Schultz) Ruhlig, making him the youngest of his siblings. He married his wife of 64 1/2 years, Barb Bauer, on June 29, 1957. Together they raised their two sons Greg and Gary. Glenn enlisted in the US Army in 1958, serving six months in active duty and 5 1/2 years in the reserves. From 1963 to 1967 he was employed by the city of Saginaw as a police officer. After fighting crime for three years he began sharing his expertise in the construction business starting his own company-Glenn Ruhlig Builders. Glenn was a well-respected, quality builder from 1967 until his retirement in 1997. Moving to Houghton Lake in 1999 gave him 23 years to enjoy the good life of retirement with his wife Barb.
  
Glenn leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife; Barb, sons; Greg (Debbie) and Gary (Meg) and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Fredrick and Gertrude (Schultz) Ruhlig, sister; Doris (Ralph Ziegler) and brother; Robert (Shirley Kelly Ruhlig). 

Glenn’s family will celebrate his life on January 11, 2022 at 11 am at St John Lutheran Church located at 2888 W. Houghton Lake Drive, Houghton Lake, Michigan with Rev. Paul Kruse officiating. Friends and family are welcome from 10:00 am until time of service at the church. All are welcome to attend Glenn’s graveside committal which will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery-located at 3356 Hermansau Road, Saginaw Michigan.
