Gregory "Greg" J. Sanders

Gregory "Greg" J. Sanders, age 71, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Greg was born on February 1, 1954, in Flint, Michigan, to Harry and Margaret (Crystal) Sanders. He retired from Meijer as a Store Director after 36 years of dedicated service. Greg married Jan Parini on February 10, 1984, in Saginaw. After raising their four children in Freeland, the couple moved to Houghton Lake in 2019. Greg and Jan enjoyed traveling together and spent winters in Florida for ten years. He loved golfing, fishing, playing tennis, watching sports, working in the yard, boating with family and friends, and most of all, spending time with his family. Greg took great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports and participate in their activities.

Greg is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jan Sanders; children Justin (Erin) Stevens, Jason Stevens, Scott (Nick Gardner) Sanders, and Courtney (Ross) Wilkin; grandchildren Murphy & Milo Wilkin; sisters Judy Bommarito, Lorna (Gabe) Gaby, and Lori (Mike) Vedder; mother-in-law Delphine Loll; brothers-in-law Dominic Parini, Tony (Sarah) Parini, Don (Donna) Parini, and Jeff (Theresa) Parini; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Ronald Parini, and brother-in-law Joe Bommarito.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Christler Funeral Home – Prudenville Chapel on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a brief service. All are welcome to join a Celebration of Life and light lunch from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Markey Township Hall in Houghton Lake.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Greg’s name to the American Cancer Society.
