Harvey J. Hose, lifelong resident of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital in Indiana. He was 78.
Harvey was born on October 7, 1943, to Harvey Sr. and Myrtle Marie (Spink) Hose.
He was a graduate of Merritt High School. Harvey spent his career working as both a farmer and a logger for many years. In his spare time he could often be found golfing. He enjoyed polka dancing, playing cards; especially euchre and would play as often as he could. Harvey was a people-person and was always making new friends. He was an avid gardener; often giving away the food he produced. He served as sexton of the Star City Cemetery for many years. Harvey will be remembered for being incredibly stubborn and having a kind and nurturing spirit. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Harvey is survived by his loving children, Jeff Hose, Jody (Rodney) Wade and Jason (fiancée Amber) Hose; daughter-in-law, Tracy Hose; grandchildren, Autumn (Aiman) Soliman, Matthew (Hannah) Wade, Ashley (Matt) Lubbers, Alyssa (Nate) Dieterman, Emma Wade, Katie Hose, David Hose, Nick (Adri) Hose, Andie Hose, Amie Hose and Brixton Hose; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Victoria Hose and many other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Hose; an infant great-grandson: Layne Toliver; two sisters: Kate Thompson and Bonnie Gilde and two brothers: Russell Hose and Jake Hose.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at 1 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Young-Holdship Funeral Home.
A luncheon will follow at Merritt United Methodist Church.
Interment will take place at Star City Cemetery.
