Hazen William "Bill" Holey, 90, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday April 6, 2026 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Bill was born on March 17, 1936 in Temperance, Michigan to Sherman and Grace (Patterson) Holey. He grew up in the Temperance area until going into the Army and serving from 1954 to 1958 during the Korean War. On July 1, 1961 in Atlanta, Michigan, Bill was married to Betty Jane Pratt. He worked for many years as a painter and later a foreman for General Motors. Following Bill's retirement the couple spent twenty years traveling the United States with their mobile home, enjoying the many sites and scenery around the country. The Couple moved to Houghton Lake from Clarkston twenty years ago. Hazen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Houghton Lake and the Clarkston Eagles. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and the couple sailed on the Great Lakes for 9 years.
Surviving Mr. Holey are his loving wife of over 64 years, Betty Jane Holey of Houghton Lake; three daughters, Rebecca English of FL, Kimberly (Jeff) Warden of Pigeon, and Karrie Lawrence of FL; two sons, Shawn Holey of Houghton Lake, and Bryan (Renee) Miller of Alpena; 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Hazen was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Senton; son, Keith Holey; and six siblings.
Military Services for Hazen William Holey will be conducted at 11:00am Friday April 17, 2026 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. Memorial contributions in memory of Bill are asked to be directed to The Care Team Hospice, 441 S Main St Suite 4, Standish, MI 48658.
