Hilda Yvonne (Reiffer) Lowing

Hilda Lowing, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. She was 81.

Hilda was born on August 13, 1944 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Minerd and Nellie (Faber) Reiffer Sr. She was a graduate of Grand Rapids South Christian High School, Class of 1963. On November 16, 1968 she entered into marriage with Richard Evans Lowing in Grand Rapids. In her spare time, she could often be found reading. She had a passion for animals, especially dogs and rabbits. In younger years she enjoyed riding horses and competitively showing Mini Rex Rabbits. She was actively involved in the Michigan Rabbit Breeders Association and the National Rabbit Breeders Association for countless years. Hilda was a talented and creative seamstress and loved to quilt and sew. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hilda is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Richard Lowing; children, Mark Lowing and Kristin (Ben) McLeod; grandchildren, Natalie (David), Jacob (Amber), Rachel, Josh, Matt (Morgan) and Caleb; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Minerd Reiffer Jr. and Simon (Gloria) Reiffer; sister, Florence Koster;  numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, Minerd and Nellie Reiffer Sr.; great-grandson, Adrian; sister, Joanne Reiffer; and a brother-in-law, Richard Koster.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time.
