LeRoy - Irene Kay Homrich, of LeRoy and formerly of Jenison and Charlevoix, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 30, 2025 at her home. She was 81.
Irene was born on June 16, 1943, in Charlevoix, Michigan to Glenn and Ila (Overmeyer) Holecheck. She attended and graduated from Kelloggsville High School, where in her senior year an act of chivalry by a classmate would introduce her to the man she eventually married, Lyle F. Homrich. Irene and Lyle entered into holy matrimony in November of 1961, celebrating nearly 50 years together until his passing in 2011.
Irene spent a brief time as a young woman working as a candy striper before eventually beginning her family and raising a daughter and two sons. She was a very loving and supportive mother and grandmother. In younger years she could often be found doing ceramics, enjoying some arts or craft project, country painting on barn wood, doing needle point or crocheting. After some decline in her health, Irene liked to watch television programs with crime and drama such as "Cops" or "Judge Judy", but her favorite two were no doubt "Home Improvement" with Tim Allen and "Family Feud" with Steve Harvey. She also became one of the world's best solitaire experts and would enjoy watching, feeding or adding to her hummingbird collection.
Irene is survived by her sons, Dennis (Chelsea) Homrich of LeRoy and Doug (Dawn) Homrich of Ladson, SC; her daughter, Tammy Anderson of Jenison; four grandchildren, Justin Anderson, Christian (Stephanie) Homrich, Haliegh (Justin) Andrews, and Taylor (Alex) Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Sterling, Ava, and Farrah; one brother, Glenn (Sue) Holecheck; brother-in-law, Roman (Diane) Homrich; sister-in-law, Nancy Hoekstra; many loving nieces and nephews, as well as other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle F. Hormich; her brother, Don (Eleanor) Holecheck; her sister, Darlene (Don) Burke; brother-in-law, Dan Hoekstra; and her best friend, Marta, who she enjoyed many games of Skip-Bo with.
