Jacqueline Cleeves Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Jacqueline "Jackie" Rufey Cleeves, 67, of Lake City, MI, announce her passing on January 17, 2024.

Jackie was born to Basil "Bob" Rufey and Phyllis Rufey Munkres in Newbury, West Berkshire, England on October 3, 1956. Two years later, she and her family moved to Jennings, Louisiana.

Jackie, also known by Nana, was a loving and caring person. She loved life, spending time with friends, animals, the outdoors and most of all, her family. Even at long distance, her family was her world. Jackie never met a stranger; she loved to talk and visit with everyone. She enjoyed sitting on her deck and looking out over Dyer Lake, watching the sunrise and gardening. She spent hours feeding and watching the birds and other wildlife. She never came back from fishing on the lake without a pail full of fish. Her laughter was contagious and her home was the gathering place of her neighbors.

Those left behind to cherish her memories are her husband, Douglas Cleeves of Lake City, her daughter Leslie (Ryan) Hebert of Evangeline, LA, her stepson, Audie Winsett, of Charlotte, MI, two granddaughters, Morgan (Austin) Trahan of Chloe, LA and Lauren Hebert of Evangeline, LA.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Rufey, and two sisters, Janie Doucet and Jennifer Deshotel.

The family is planning a  Celebration of Life for a later date.
