James Robert Foster

James Robert Foster, 62, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday January 22, 2026 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

James "Jim Bob" was born on April 22, 1963 in Detroit, Michigan to Bernard and Beverly (Smith) Foster. He moved from Detroit to the Houghton Lake area with his parents at the age of two. Jim grew up in Houghton Lake and graduated from Houghton Lake Community Schools. He worked as a Seismograph worker for Geometrics, and later worked for Porath Construction.  On November 10, 2007 Jim was married to Jennifer Lynn DeMarco. He enjoyed anything outdoors, especially, camping, kayaking, fishing, playing with his dogs, and gardening.  Jim was a family man and loved spending time with his family.

Surviving Mr. Foster are his loving wife of 18 years, Jennifer Foster of Houghton Lake; two sons, Austin Foster of Houghton Lake, and Alex (Alliyah Wagner) Foster of Houghton Lake; two sisters, Debra Dowland of Houghton Lake, and Linda (Rick) Spear of Houghton Lake; two brothers, Stephen Foster of WV, and Larry (Kelly Surtocs) Foster of West Branch; several nieces and nephews; .  James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Troy; and sister-in-law, Jessica. 

Celebration of Life Services for James Robert Foster will be conducted in the spring.  Memorial contributions in memory of Jim are asked to be directed to the family.
