James Mrdutt Obituary

It is with deep and heartfelt love that the Mrdutt family announces the passing of our dear patriarch, James “Jim” Mrdutt.

James Saver Mrdutt Sr. was born on September 20, 1948, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to parents, Saver and Sabina (Twarogowski) Mrdutt and was called home on June 8, 2025.

Jim was the middle child of the family and is survived by his eldest sister, Carol Kelly, and her husband Steve. Their youngest sibling was Steve Mrdutt who resided in California and preceded Jim in death. The family moved to Michigan and settled in the Genesee County area.

Jim was a US Army Veteran and honorably served his country in Korea in the 38th Infantry, 2nd Infantry Division as a combat medic in 1968 during the Vietnam War. After his service, Jim worked at Chevy Metal Fab for 38 years and retired in 2004. Following his retirement, Jim and Carol began their up north adventure in Prudenville, Michigan, where they greatly enjoyed golfing, boating, going to the casino, and spending time with their family and friends. Jim also looked forward to his weekly pool league and participating in classic car shows, where he loved showing off his 1967 Chevy Nova. He was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge in Winter Haven, Florida, Houghton Lake Eagles, and the White Deer Golf & Country Club.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol “KukuSue” Mrdutt, and his children, Dawn Gray, James S. Mrdutt Jr. and fiancé, Samantha Christie; Lori Anthony and husband, Jasen. In addition, Jim was admired by his former daughter-in-law and mother to two of his grandchildren, Alicia Mrdutt. Jim’s devoted grandchildren are Chelsey, Nicky, who also preceded him in death, Mitchell, Faith, Andrew, Brandon (Katie), and Katelyn (Trevor). Jim’s great-grandchildren are Kendall, Ellie, and Wesley. Jim is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, in addition to countless close friends.

Per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at White Deer Golf & Country Club from 1 pm -4 pm with Military Honors at 2:30 pm. In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, or White Deer Golf & Country Club. You can express your condolences to the family at www.christler-holdship.com. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is handling the arrangements.
