James L. Pelkey, age 94, of Prudenville passed away on Friday August 18, 2023 at home.
James was born on March 7, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Lyle and Anna (Jankowski) Pelkey. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Michigan Bell and that is where he met his wife Patrina. The couple was married on November 4, 1950. They moved to Prudenville in 2009. James was a member of the Kaiser Frazer Owners Club and the Model A Club, he really enjoyed antique cars.
James is survived by his children; Ann Marie (Robert) Barney, Edward Pelkey, Barbara Pelkey, Robert (Karen) Pelkey, Thomas (Linda) Pelkey and Kenneth (Samantha) Pelkey, grandchildren; Mathew, Stacey, Brian, Miranda, Robert, April, Cody, James, Bud, Tyler, Jean, Alexander, Julianna, Kenneth, Lucas and Christopher, great grandchildren; Brody, Brysen, Savannah, Harper and Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Patrina.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 22, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel. A Military Honors Service will be held on Wednesday August 23, 2023 at 11 am at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
