James W. Stephens Sr.

James William Stephens Sr. age 83 passed away on November 20, 2021 at Munson Healthcare-Grayling Hospital. He was the lifelong husband of the late Sherry Lee Stephens (80). He cherished the 60 years of marriage with his wife and life-long partner.

Born in Detroit, Michigan he was the son of William Leonard and Cora Freda Stephens. He was the father and provider for his family and his three children, James Stephens Jr.(Karen), Terri Kortman, John Stephens (Katelyn).

He is survived by his three children and his grandchildren Shelby, Peter, Steven (Candi), Harrison, Parkar (Cory) Reagan, Quinn, and Evan and by his great grandchildren Lexi, Elijah, and Kalisee and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Sherry, parents, William and Cora Stephens, sister, Joan Jennings, and brother in-law, John Mrsan.

He served four years in the US Air Force for his beloved Country. He was a firefighter for 25 years in Southfield, Michigan and retired as a Sargent. He was a farmer, a collector, and an antique arms dealer. He served for many years on the Board at Mid-Forest Lodge, where he built his retirement home. His greatest joys were his Wife, his Children, and reloading ammunition and dealing firearms.

Interment is scheduled at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan on Thursday June 9, 2022 at 11 am. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
