Marion - James "Jim" Patrick Ryan Jr., passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the age of 79.
Jim was born to James and Donna (Stahl) Ryan Sr. on June 2, 1945, in St. Clair, Michigan. He graduated from Evart High School in 1964. He went on to marry Barbara Niver on July 31, 1965. Barb preceded him in death in 1997. Jim married his current wife, Cara on February 25, 2000. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army and Michigan National Guard for 19 years. Jim and his father owned a construction company together, he worked as a supervisor for Four Star and he retired form Michigan Gas Storage in 2001. Jim also proudly served as a Mason and Shriner for many years.
One of Jim's most cherished past times was spent at the woods with family and friends enjoying a cold beverage and telling tall tales of his hunting expeditions and experiences. Jim was an avid hunter and spent a lot of time hunting and fishing in Canada, Colorado, and all over the U.S. with family and friends when time allowed. Jim also loved restoring his Minneapolis-Moline Tractors and pulling his tractors all over Michigan.
Jim is survived by his wife, Cara; his son, Bob (Kelly) Ryan; daughters, Michelle (Paul) Postal, Terri (Chad) Forster, and Jennifer (Chris) McKellar; brother, Richard (Pat) Ryan; sister, Deb (Craig) Neuman; brother-in-law, David Anderson; grandchildren, Brittney Ryan, Chase Ryan, Christopher Postal, Sydney Postal, Riley (Michelle) Dull, Bailey (Bradley) Riedinger, Arik Forster, Morgan (David) Hannar, Kennedi (Luis) Korpal, and Camryn McKellar; great-grandchildren, Tullulah Mae, Shelby (Mike), Olivia, Augustus, and another great-grandchild on the way in April 2025; and his best buddy, Jerry England.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barb; his parents, James and Donna Ryan; in-laws, Basil and Francis Niver, and Grace Anderson; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Carol Niver; and brother-in-law, Alan Anderson.
Per Jim's request, he wanted a warm sunny Celebration of Life that will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church in Marion at 12 noon, with visitation one hour prior.
