Janice K. (Robinson) Pontious

Janice Kay Pontious, 85, of  Higgins Lake passed away on Sunday May 9, 2021 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Janice was born on December 25, 1935 in Elsie, Michigan to Russell and Bernadine (Linman) Robinson. She grew up in the Elsie area graduating from Elsie High School. On January 14, 1955 in Hawaii, Janice was married to Gary A. Pontious.  Janice was a homemaker and mother of two loving children. She enjoyed crocheting in her younger years, and her special love was spending time with family, especially her beloved husband, Gary. The couple enjoyed hiking the mountains in the Tucson, Arizona area during the winter months.

Surviving Mrs. Pontious are her loving husband of 66 years, Gary Pontious of Roscommon; son, Wendell (Mary) Pontious of TN; daughter, Cheryl Martin of Eaton Rapids; one grandchild;  two great grandchildren; three sisters, Janette Robinson of St. Johns, Karen Barton of Ithaca, Cathy Korienec of Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Wayne Robinson and R.J. Robinson. 

Family services will be conducted at Gerrish Township Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in memory of Janice are asked to be directed to the family. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
