Cadillac - Jean Marie Tupis, of Cadillac passed away at home surrounded by family on Monday, January 26, 2026. She was 77.
Jean was born on September 20, 1948, in Cadillac, Michigan, one of nine children to Samuel and Claudia (Houghton) Cronkhite. Jean grew up and attended school in Cadillac. On August 27, 1994 she entered into holy matrimony with David William Tupis, making a life together and celebrating nearly 20 years together before his death in 2014.
Jean made her living working in the office in roles such as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, as well as shipping and receiving in local companies such as Four Winns, B & P, and FedEx in Cadillac before settling into managing the office alongside family at All Ways Welding. Jean enjoyed many years in the outdoors with Dave, in addition to other family and friends, camping, fishing, and hunting. She made many wonderful memories visiting the river in Wellston, exploring Canada, all while taking in the beauty of mother nature. She could often be found sitting outside on the back porch as she would get lost in her latest novel. Jean was an active part of the Independent Bible Church and in earlier years would volunteer to help in the cleaning duties, aid in the kitchen, and in daycare as needed. Jean will be remembered for her joyful heart, her smile, the love she showed her family and for spoiling the many pets she cared for over the years.
Jean is survived by her two sons, Dallas (Carlene) VanBuskirk, Jr. of Cadillac; John (Kirstie) VanBuskirk of Arizona; one brother, Pat Cronkhite of Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Tupis; seven siblings, Bill Cronkhite, Bev Miltibarger, Bob Cronkhite, Gary Cronkhite Sr., Linda Cronkhite, Richard Cronkhite, Don Cronkhite.
