Cadillac - Jeffery Joseph Myers Jr., age 89, of Cadillac, Michigan, went to the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Cremation has taken place.
Jeffery was born in Hubbell, Michigan on February 12, 1930. The family moved to Flint a few years later. He attended Bendle High School in Burton, Michigan and recently attended his 70th class reunion. He has kept in contact with his remaining classmates. He married Peggy Louise Robinson on July 9, 1949, in Flint, Michigan. He was employed with Sears for 35 years. They were parishioners of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton since 1950. Jeffery drove a school bus every morning, for 25 years, before heading to his job at Sears. He volunteered many hours to St. Vincent DePaul in Flint and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jeffery and Peggy moved to Cadillac, Michigan in October of 1990 to be close to their three grandchildren. They joined St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac, were he volunteered for almost 30 years landscaping and removing snow. He visited many people weekly in the Cadillac area nursing homes and helped many businesses with their landscaping and snow removal. Most people knew him as the "Mole Man", and his techniques in getting rid of them.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, his parents, and a nephew, Jimmy.
Jeffery is survived by his two children, Myra Myers of Cadillac, MI, and Susan Askins of Swartz Creek, MI; brothers, Ernie Myers, Gene Myers, Denny (Nellie) Myers, and sister, Denise Fortune, all in the Burton, Flint, and Grand Blanc areas; grandchildren, Jeffery Scoby of Greenville, MI, Joy (Jon) Scoby of Cadillac, MI, and Susan (Ricky) Scoby of Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Emma Scoby, Sylvia Bednarick and Samuel Velez; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Cadillac will be held at 11:00am to celebrate his life on July 6, 2019, with Rev. Michael Janowski acting as celebrant. A luncheon will follow at Fox Hill Conference Center, compliments of Brian and Julie Williams. Please join us. Burial will take place with his wife of 63 years, Peggy, at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Flint. Memorials may be made by planting a flower, bush or tree in his name, and would honor him greatly for his love of gardening and helping other always.
