Manton - It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Jeremy David Baldwin, who departed from this world on May 12, 2026, at the age of 44.
Born on May 4, 1982, in Cadillac, Jeremy was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him. His life, though cut short, was filled with love, laughter, and a steadfast commitment to his family and community. Jeremy was born to Judith (Smith) Ellsworth and Mark Baldwin, and from an early age, he demonstrated a zest for life and a profound love for the great outdoors. Growing up in a bustling household with his siblings Joshua (Amy), Cody (Kayla), Sara (David) Bittell, Rudy, and Isiah, and step-siblings Allen, Angel, and Bruce Burns, Jeremy learned the importance of family bonds, which he cherished throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Manton High School's Class of 2000, Jeremy answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the military on May 24, 2001. As an Ammunition Specialist, he bravely served during Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning numerous accolades, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Parachutist Badge. His service was a testament to his courage and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who served alongside him. In 2016, Jeremy embarked on the most rewarding journey of his life when he married his beloved Virginia Kay Yeager on July 16. Their union, spanning a decade, was blessed with three wonderful children - Veronica, Victor, and Vivian, who were the pride and joy of Jeremy's life. His role as a devoted husband and father was one he cherished above all else, spending countless hours fishing, camping, rock hunting, and mushroom hunting with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Jeremy's career with True North Energy was marked by his unwavering dedication and work ethic. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and cheerful presence, always ready to lend a helping hand and brighten the room with his humor. Jeremy had an innate ability to lift spirits and bring smiles to faces, a gift he graciously shared with everyone he met.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; his cherished children, Veronica, Victor, and Vivian; his father, Mark (Teresa) Baldwin; his stepfather, Ronald Ellsworth; his siblings, step-siblings, and a host of extended family, including three nephews, Phillip, Abraham, and Samuel Baldwin, who held a special place in his heart, along with many nieces and nephews whom he adored. Jeremy was predeceased by his dear mother, Judith; his sister, Nadine; and his grandparents, Kenneth and Carol Smith and Vern and Arletta Baldwin, who welcomed him into the afterlife with open arms.
Funeral services to celebrate Jeremy's life will be held on May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home, located at 620 North Mitchell Street in Cadillac, Michigan with visitation starting at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Baldwin Memorial Fund at Forest Area Credit Union, honoring Jeremy's legacy of kindness and generosity. As we bid farewell to our beloved Jeremy, we hold onto the memories of his loving spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
