Jeremy Joseph Hahn, 49, of Houghton Lake passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, two years after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), often called Lou Gehrig's disease. He was lovingly cared for at home by his wife and children, who in turn were supported by many family and friends, home health aides and the congregation at First Baptist Church of Prudenville.
Jeremy was born on August 30, 1976, in Flint, Michigan, to Joseph and Theresa (Daly) Hahn. He grew up in the Mount Morris area before moving with his mother and brothers to Lake City, MI, where he completed his senior year of high school, graduating in 1995. Following graduation, Jeremy worked for a number of years at the Shell station and over 12 years at Pizza Hut, both in Cadillac, MI. He had a heart for service and explored a number of other roles, including home health aide and working in insurance. However, in 2016, he began as an Associate with Walmart, where he very much enjoyed his fellow employees and interacting with customers.
Jeremy was deeply committed to family. After marrying, his family quickly grew, first celebrating precious Victoria and, later, a Christmas Eve baby, Natalie. His true love came a bit later than planned, when Jeremy met Margie C. Homoc. They were married on November 5, 2021, and from their union came a beautiful blending of family—across international boundaries. Jeremy and Margie made their home in Houghton Lake, MI, together with their four daughters, Angela (24), whom Jeremy was able to adopt, Princess (16), who Jeremy heart-adopted, Victoria (15) and Natalie (12). They are his pride and joy, and he loved every moment spent with his family.
Jeremy was a man of faith, confident in the knowledge of our risen Savior. He committed time to the churches he attended, singing in the choir, participating in small group studies and helping with church events. Jeremy was a history buff and was especially knowledgeable about American History. He enjoyed talking politics and goading his (step)Dad on related topics. Jeremy also enjoyed new experiences—whether it was cooking, reading a good book, watching a new movie or traveling. In 2019, he made two very memorable trips—one to Hong Kong and another to the Philippines. Jeremy also enjoyed deer hunting and earned the nickname "Dead Eye" after he shot a hole through the roof of his grandfather’s deer blind.
Jeremy leaves behind his loving wife of four years, Margie Hahn of Houghton Lake; their four daughters, Angela, Princess, Victoria, and Natalie; their son, Azariah Salazar of the Philippines; grandson, Tristan; parents, Theresa and Brian Somes of Lake City; two brothers, Jacob Hahn of Cadillac and Joel (Miranda) Hahn of Traverse City; two step-sisters, Heather (Mary DiVito) Somes of Canton and Alicia Keaton of Brighton; and many nieces and nephews. Jeremy was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Robert and Rita Daly of Saginaw and Bruce Somes of Manton.
Memorial Services for Jeremy will take place at 1:00 pm, Saturday April 11, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Prudenville with Rev. Douglas Stockwell officiating. Visitation will be held the same day, from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the ALS Foundation or First Baptist Church of Prudenville. Christler Funeral Home Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be shared online at www.christler-holdship.com.
