John C. Inman Jr., of Lake City, Michigan, passed away on March 1, 2025 at Autumnwood of McBain. He was 84.
John was born on August 7, 1940 to John and Catherine (Jarrett) Inman in Grayling, Michigan. He was a graduate of Lake City High School. After completing high school, he went on to answer the call of duty, serving in the United States Army. Once returning home back to civilian life, John went on to achieve his Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. He began his career working as the manager of the Holiday Inn in Midland, where he met the love of his life, Georgie. On April 1, 1974 he entered into marriage with Georgena "Georgie" in Midland. The couple later relocated to Lake City. John and his business partner, John Snyder built, owned and operated Mr. Johns restaurant in 1973, running for over a decade and selling in 1984. He then later owned and operated the Missaukee Cafe, running that until his time of retirement. The couple spent 38 years together until her time of passing on July 2, 2012. John was a proud member of the Lake City Masonic Lodge, Eagles Club, Moose Club, American Legion, and the Michigan State University Alumni Association. He was a lifelong member of the Shriners and remained active in the Shiners Mini 500 parade unit. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
John is survived by his children; son, Shane Inman; step-son, Anthony Wellesley; step-daughters, Kelly (Tim) Hamlet and Becky Miracle; sister, Sally (Pete) Chenard; grandchildren, Nolan Miracle and Travis Miracle; nieces and nephew, Peter (Lisa) Chenard; Elizabeth Slagboom, and Cathy Chenard; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine; his wife, Georgie; daughters, Cheryl Wellesley, Marlene Golden, Tammy Wellesley, and Penny Peacock.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 1 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Young-Holdship Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Lake City Cemetery in the spring.
