John A. Portala

John A. Portala, Jr.  age 56 of Lake City, passed away April 3, 2021 at Munson Healthcare in Cadillac.

John was born October 1, 1964 in Toledo, Ohio to John Andrew Sr. and Jessie (Butler) Portala.

John married the former Vanessa Kay Smith on December 17, 1999.

John retired after many years as an operator engineer with the OEIU Local 324. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and was loved by all his family.

John is survived by his wife Vanessa and children: Richard (Brenda) Kominek, Jennifer (John) Lewallen, John (Amanda) Portala III, Jami Kominek and Carrol Portala and twelve grandchildren.

He is also survived by his mother Jessie and Joseph  Malosh and three sisters: Maria Walker, Josette Eaton and Beth Cubett.

John was preceded in death by his father and two granddaughters.

A time of visitation will be on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from1:00 until 5:00 pm at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City with Rev. Richard Kominek officiating.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, masks covering the mouth and nose will be required, social distancing will be observed, and the funeral home capacity is limited to 25 people at any given time.
