John M. Quirk, 74, of Houghton Lake passed away on Monday October 27, 2025 at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City.
John was born on May 19, 1951 in Wayne County, Michigan to Robert and Alice "Lynn"(Gralewicz) Quirk. John moved to Houghton Lake when 4 years old. He graduated from Houghton Lake Community Schools in 1969. John was the owner and operator of Three Lakes Overhead Door for many years until his recent retirement. On June 19, 1999 in Houghton Lake John was married to Sue Meece. The couple enjoyed traveling especially in the mountains of Tennessee. John enjoyed pistol shooting. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family and especially spending time with the grandchildren.
Surviving Mr.Quirk are his loving wife of 26 years, Sue Quirk of Houghton Lake; two daughters, Jennifer (Dave Barth) Quirk of Houghton Lake, and Ann St. Peter of Syracuse, Utah; two sons, Scott (Cheryl) Quirk of Escanaba, and Frank (Kari) Palacios of Grand Ledge; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Linda Hodgdon of Troy; brother, Tom (Debbie) Sohn of Houghton Lake; nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jessica Quirk; and son, Gary Palacios.
Funeral Services for John M. Quirk will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday November 1, 2025 from Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Visitation will be held on Friday October 31, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel. Memorial contributions in memory of John are asked to be directed to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
