Joseph Wilfred Emond Jr. passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in Lake City.
Junior was born March 8, 1940 in Pioneer Township of Missaukee County to Joseph Wilfred Sr. and Izetta Mae (Helsel) Emond.
He was united in marriage to the former Patsy Ann Hejnal on June 2, 1960 in Pioneer Township, Missaukee County. Patsy preceded him in death March 23, 2016.
He was a man built from quiet strength, steady hands, and a heart full of purpose. For years, he worked hard - not for recognition or reward, but simply to provide for the people he loved. He believed in showing up, day after day, doing what needed to be done. That was his way - strong, dependable, and humble.
He spent his life working in the woods as a logger, carving out a living through hard, honest labor. The kind of work that demands grit, endurance, and a deep connection to the land. He didn’t complain. He didn’t cut corners. He took pride in what he did, knowing it helped put food on the table and kept his family safe and steady.
Through every season, challenge, and change, he stayed true to who he was: a provider, a protector, a pillar of strength. We were lucky to call him ours. And while we miss him more than words can say, we carry his spirit with us - in our work ethic, in our love for the outdoors, and in the values he passed down without ever needing to raise his voice.
Junior is survived by his children, Karen Emond (Dan) of Lake City, Anna (Scott) Crane of Lake City, and Joe (Shelley) Emond of Lake City. Junior will be dearly missed by twelve grandchildren, Tanya, Lindsay, Sarah, Emily, Nick, Chelsie, Tyler, Hannah, Olivia, Koby, Willow and Ivy and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Charlotte (Doug) Clough of Boon as well as several nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patsy, a son, Charlie Emond and siblings, Mary, Dianne, Dorothy and Jimmy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City with Pastor Herb Helsel officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until service time. Burial will follow services at the Lake City Cemetery.
