Joyce Elaine Seelye, age 88 of Lake City, went home to see her Lord and Saviour on December 29, 2025 at the Maple Ridge Living Center in Lake City.
Joyce was born October 10, 1937 in Reeder Township of Missaukee County to John and Mary (Cady) Gilde.
While growing up Joyce farmed with her Dad and even hired out as a young girl to drive tractor. She was a very avid deer hunter and fisherman.
She was united in marriage to Douglas Seelye on December 10, 1955. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on December 10, 2025.
Joyce was secretary for Garn Glass and City Glass Shop, but most importantly was a house wife and a Mom.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Douglas Seelye and three sons, Douglas “Skip” (Lenore) Seelye, Todd (Marielle) Seelye and Scott (Jackie) Seelye and five grandchildren; Laryn, Levi, Meghan, Morgan and Blake.
She is also survived by her sister, Cora (Paul) Goresch, and sisters in law; Tykie Gilde and Beverly Seelye.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Gilde and her siblings, Francis (Grace) Gilde, Dorr (Jerry) Gilde, Gordon ( Marie) Gilde, Edward (Alice) Gilde, Ken Gilde, Helen (Cliff) Gallop, Anna (Albert) Burkholder, Irene (Bill) Baker and Esther (Jim) Norman.
She was also preceded in death by her in laws: Violet (Gene) Evans, Patsy (Richard) Fry, Dorothy (Ed) Nystrom, Juanita (Norm) Moore and Calvin Seelye.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City,
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at The Grove Church in Lake City with Pastor Herb Helsel officiating. A time for visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service begins.
Burial will take place in the Reeder Township Cemetery in the spring.
