Judy Susan (Coscomb) Gregory

Judy Susan Gregory, 79, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Tuesday December 9, 2025 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Judy was born on June 21, 1946 in Utica, New York to Perly and Carmen (Flansburg) Coscomb. Judy grew up in upstate New York with her siblings.  Being the youngest of the family she was raised by her mother and siblings through diverse and difficult times, while always retaining her smile.  She remembers meeting Johnny Cash when she was 10, and only coming up as high as his belt buckle. He was at an event where Judy's brother was playing with his country music band.  She received her Associates Degree from Western Michigan University, where she also was a Supervisor at the Educational Resource Center. On August 4, 1981 in Clarkston, Judy was married to Thomas Lloyd  Gregory.  Judy worked as a Health Department medical technician for Oakland County for 17 years. The couple moved from Clarkston to Houghton Lake 23 years ago. Judy was a member and past Secretary of the Houghton Lake Does. She did extensive paperwork and coordinating for the Houghton Lake Sportsman's Club, especially when her husband Tom was a two term President, and instructing Hunter Safety at the club.  She always was active in helping out in local organizations.  Judy enjoyed golfing, and was an avid Painter and striving artist, along with enjoying working at the Houghton Lake Resorter.

Surviving Mrs.Gregory are her loving husband of 43 years, Thomas Lloyd Gregory of Houghton Lake; two daughters, Alicia Lindeman of Rochester, and Suzanne Hillard of CA; son, Kenneth Gregory of Benton Harbor; Several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Kathy (George) Gydessen of New York; numerous nieces and nephews.  Judy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Nyeburg, two brothers, Harvey Liddle, and Edmund Liddle, and two sisters, Lorraine VanTassel, and Nancy Wallus. 

A Celebration of Life Service for Judy Susan Gregory will be conducted Friday June 19, 2026 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Roscommon Township Hall, 8555 Knapp Road, Houghton Lake, Mi. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Memorial contributions in memory of Judy are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter.
