Judy L. (Cannan) Swanson

Judith Louise Marie Swanson went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28th, 2025.  Judy was born March 3rd, 1951, in Edmunston, New Brunswick, Canada to Joe and Laura Jean Cannan.  She attended Madawaska Elementary School and later attended St. Joseph Academy in Portland, Maine. 

She graduated in 1969 and met Gordon Swanson in 1970 while he was stationed on the U. S. Coast Guard Cutter Campbell.  They were married on June 18th, 1970, in Portland, Maine.  In 1972, Gordon and Judy moved back to Houghton Lake, Michigan, where they worked for Lakeside Transportation Ambulance for about 3 years.  Judy then worked at Houghton Lake Public Schools for 18 years.  Judy retired in 2010.   In 2013, after Gordie retired, they spent their winters in Texas.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Gordon Swanson;  her daughter, Michelle, and her husband Daniel Redigan Sr.;  son Scott and his wife Brandy Swanson.  She also leaves behind 7 grandsons and 3 great-grandchildren, sisters Betty and Janet, and brother Dayton.  Many cherished brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, church family, and Texas family.

A memorial service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at the Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church on Saturday, August 9th, 2025.  Visitation will be at 10 am, service at 11 am.  There will be a light lunch at the church following the service.
