Karen Elaine (Rohn) Wajer

Karen Elaine Wajer, 82, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Tuesday March 10, 2026 at Laurels Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant.

Karen was born on August 6, 1943 in Bad Axe, Michigan to Fred and Anna (Lich) Rohn.  She was married on July 24, 1965 in Saginaw, Michigan to Kenneth J. Wajer. The couple moved from Saginaw to Houghton Lake 20 years ago.  They attended Faith Community Church in Houghotn Lake until their health would not allow them to get away from home.  Karen was an avid bingo player and loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren..

Surviving Mrs. Wajer are her loving husband of 60 years, Kenneth J. Wajer of Houghton Lake; daughter, Kimberly (Dan) Rathbun of Prudenville; granddaughters Kayla Hanson, Britney Smith and Brianna Richardson; grandson Daniel Rathbun Jr. ; 11 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Marlene LaPort. 

Memorial services for Karen Elaine Wajer will be conducted at a later date.  Internment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Karen are asked to be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
