Katherine L. (Abling) Hines

Katherine L. Hines, 91, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday January 2, 2025 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Katherine was born on November 2, 1933 in Canandaigua, Michigan to Rexford and Luella (Sponsler) Abling. She grew up in the Canandaigua area before moving to Houghton Lake, where she spent most of her life. On October 27, 1951 in Houghton Lake, Katherine was married to Wilbert M. "Junior" Hines. Katherine was a homemaker and a busy mother of four children, along with helping on the family farm. Katherine was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially taking rides with her beloved "Junior".

Surviving Mrs. Hines are her two sons, Wilbert (Deborah) Hines III, and John (Mindy) Hines; two daughters, Sally Kauffman, and Katherine Kreft; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert M. Hines, Jr.; son-in-law, Lenny Kauffman; and brother, Sam Abling and sister, Naomi B. Rentz.
