Marion - Kenneth A. Bekken, lifelong resident of the Marion area passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Autumnwood of McBain. He was 89.
Ken was born on May 17, 1936, in McBain, to Evart and Anna (Ensing) Bekken. After losing his father at a young age, Anna remarried to Richard Elenbaas. Ken appreciated having a loving and blended family. On June 16, 1960, Ken entered into holy matrimony with the former Iva Mae Alberts in Lucas, Michigan.
Ken made his living in the excavating field working as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He loved the outdoors and would often spend time deer hunting. Ken would always stay busy and fill time tending to the garden, wood working, or using his mechanical talents working on the next fix-it project. Ken and Iva would attend the Avondale United Methodist Church.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Iva Bekken of Marion; his three children, Kenneth (Terrie) Bekken, Jr. of Byron Center, Rex (Michelle) Bekken of Holland, and Lori (Dave) Leeuw of Harrison; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Gertrude Marcus, Frances Bekken, and Edward Bekken.
A visitation time for friends and family will be held on Saturday March 14, 2026 at Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Interment will be at the Middle Branch Township Cemetery in Marion in the spring. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
