Surrounded by love and held in God’s grace, Kim Patrick Sandow entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. He passed peacefully at home in Lake City, Michigan, with his beloved wife, Lori, by his side.
Kim was born March 21, 1947, in Midland, Michigan, to Don and Betty Sandow, and was raised alongside his four sisters. He graduated from Midland High School in 1965 and went on to build a career as a master mechanic. Cars were his lifelong passion—whether racing at local drag strips or restoring classics, including a recent 1936 Business Coupe and 1964 Plymouth Fury convertible, along with many other Mopars. He and Lori especially enjoyed attending classic car shows with friends. Even in retirement, Kim could often be found in his garage, working on projects or lending his expertise to friends and family.
Known for his generosity and willingness to help, Kim had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. He took pride in understanding how things worked and found joy in time spent tinkering in his shop. He also volunteered at Jennings Community Church, where he and Lori were active members.
Kim and Lori split their time between Lake City and Lady Lake, Florida. He loved music and attended live performances whenever he could, enjoyed traveling, and had a particular interest in historical documentaries. While in Florida, he was also a member of a Lake County car club.
Kim was preceded in death by his daughter, JoEllen. He is survived by his wife, Lori (Sprik); his son, Patrick (Deb) Sandow; stepchildren, Emily (Kyle) Guerrant, Pakky (Lauren) Gerkin, and Kody (Melissa) Gerkin; his sisters, Myrla (Dick) Genson, Mary Ramey, Laura (Dennis) VonEitzen, and Nora (Sandy) Thurlow; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life is being planned in Lake City.
