Larry Arthur Young

Larry Arthur Young, 86, of Grand Rapids, passed away at home on October 22, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life.

Larry was born on December 31, 1937 to Richard and Margaret (Miller) Young in Howard City, Michigan. He graduated from Lakeview Community Schools in 1956. Larry always knew he wanted to be a farmer and take care of the land. As soon as he graduated from Lakeview High School he started farming with his Dad on R & L Young Farms which eventually became Sandyland Farms.

On August 25, 1956 he married Edie E. McCambridge at the Lakeview United Methodist Church in Lakeview, Michigan. Larry was baptized and joined the Lakeview UMC at a very young age. He taught Sunday School and sang in the choir as well as served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was a member of the Lakeview Lions Club. As a member of the Lakeview Community School Board for eight years, he signed both Tim and Todd’s diplomas and handed them to each graduation night. In 2017, Larry had an old IHC Tractor completely renovated and drove it over the Mackinac Bridge.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Edie of 68 years. Brother Jerry Young of Grand Rapids. Two sons Tim (Marsha) Young of Grand Rapids and Todd (Heidi) Young of Howard City. Four grandchildren Ashley Young of Howard City, Tyler (Juliette) Young of Clarkston, Dr. Tiffany (Dr. Dan Ysselstein) Young of Chicago, Chase (Lindsey) Young of Howard City. Great-grandchildren Michael Todd Young, Cecilia Jean Young, Benjamin Chase Young, Eleanor Violet Young, Jake Calder Young. Niece Ellen (Lee) Markel and nephew Eric Young as well as many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Margaret (Miller) Young, his sister-in-law Natalie (Walldorff) Young and his nephew Tony Young.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am on Saturday, October 26th. Services will be held at New Life United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 26th at 11:00am with a luncheon immediately following. Burial will follow the luncheon at West Pine Cemetery.
