Years later they became full-time residents of Prudenville and renamed the business to House Doctor.

Laurie was a devoted animal advocate and loved nature, especially birds. As an artist she would frequently study the creativity of the sky and clouds. She was such a caring person she took great caution to never harm any of God’s creatures.  Laurie was an active member of the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member of the church & bell choir for many years. Her love of music led her to sing and travel with the Michigan/Ohio Christian Concert Choir for several years and the Roscommon Christian Choir.  Laurie was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Bethlehem Chapter #103, past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile Temple #99 and Houghton-Higgins Lake BPO Does. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hats. Laurie was an accomplished artist throughout her life. Her most noted works are oil paintings of nature and animals.
