Leona L. (Demlow) Sherwood

Leona Lorraine Sherwood, 86, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday July 15, 2021 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.

Leona was born on April 12, 1935 in Gladwin, Michigan to Ace and Wretha (Dowell) Demlow. She grew up in the Gladwin area where she graduated from Gladwin High School. Leona worked as a Secretary for Farm Credit Services of Mt. Pleasant.  In December of 1974 in Mt. Pleasant Leona was married to Walter Allen  Sherwood.  She was a member of Houghton Lake United Methodist Church and was a Houghton Lake Lionness.  Leona's love was spending time with her beloved Walter.

Surviving Mrs. Sherwood are her three step daughters, Susan Pung, LuAnne (David) Cooper, and Lori (Ron) Zordell; three grandchildren, Justin, David, and Lucas; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Jenna; six nieces and nephews, Tom Swan, Ken Swan, Francis E. "Bronco" Swan Jr., Karen, Sytek, Jim Swan, and Michele Wilmas; Many great nieces and nephews.  Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Allen Sherwood; step daughter, Terri Lynn Cramton; nephew, Kevin Swan; three brothers, Robert Swan, Francis Swan, and William L. Swan. 

Memorial Services for Leona L. Sherwood will be conducted 12:30pm Friday November 5, 2021 at the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating. Interment will be in the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. Memorial contributions in memory of Leona are asked to be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
