Marion - Lora Marie (Lazell) Hartsell passed away on May 1, 2026.
Born in Owosso, Michigan, on June 8, 1968, Lora was the daughter of Michael and Karen (Dore) Lazell. She built a life centered on family, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys around her.
Lora loved spending time with her children and took great pride in spoiling her grandchildren with her homemade meals and baked goods. She cherished time with her sisters and their families, and she found peace and happiness outdoors. Gardening, camping, and evenings around the campfire were among her favorite pastimes. She especially enjoyed kayaking with family and friends.
A gifted photographer, Lora captured and shared beautiful images of sunrises, lunar events, and flowers in her beloved “Good Morning Highland” posts on Facebook. She was known for her positive outlook, her warm spirit, and her ready smile. Throughout her life, Lora held many jobs, but she spent most of her working years at Eisenga Potato Farm and Shanajac’s Pizza, both in Marion.
Lora was preceded in death by her father, Michael Lazell; her grandparents, Charles and Esther Lazell and Robert and Rhea Dore; her father‑in‑law, Orville Hartsell; and her sister‑in‑law, Jerry Lee Blackledge.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Hartsell; her children, Joshua Lazell, Jacob Lazell, and Hollie Hartsell (fiancé Paul Little); as well as her stepson, Nick (Melissa) Hartsell, and stepdaughter, Jessica Hartsell. Additional survivors include her grandchildren: Hannah Lazell; Kamdyn and Tate Lazell; Rhaena Little; Anastasia, Emmett, and Elliot Hartsell; and Aloka Hartsell. She is also survived by her mother, Karen Lazell; her sisters, Lisa (Bill) Zeilinger and Kathy Lazell; and her nieces and nephews, Aaron Hesselink, Zachary (Bethany) Hesselink, Amber Hesselink, Sarah Davis, Dylan Zeilinger, and Kylee Lazell. Lora is further remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Marion Eagles on Saturday, June 6, 2026 beginning at 1:00 pm.
