Marian L. (Glasgow) Freiny

Cadillac - Marian Lorraine Freiny, longtime resident of Marshall, MI, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Wexford Senior Care Center. She was 93.

Marian was born on March 13, 1932, in Afton, Minnesota to Richard and Lorraine (Clymer) Glasgow.  She grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Stillwater High School before moving to Michigan where she was wed. Marian entered into marriage with Hillard K. Freiny on March 29, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church in Marshall.  They shared 55 years together and created a family of three wonderful children.  Hillard preceded Marian in death on December 26, 2007.

Marian enjoyed traveling in the family motorhome and created many wonderful memories camping and vacationing.  She ​loved ​her time in the kitchen and often could be found baking and cooking.  Marian was giving of her time and talents and help to provide food for church luncheons, fellowship and coffee hour, the Taste of Germany, not to mention other community and church events.  Marian was an instrumental and active part of Zion Lutheran Church in Marshall since 1952.  

Marian is survived by her three children; her son, Mike (LeeAnn) Freiny of Cadillac, her daughters, Marlene (Irv) Sellen and Nancy (Dave) Kellogg all of Marshall; 10 grandchildren, David, Kristy, Alicia, Kelly, Karl, Jennifer, Kyle, Kevin, Melanie, and Elliott; 19 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Richard and Thomas Glasgow of Lakeland, MN; as well as many other loving family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hillard; her parents and a sister, Donna Meister.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church located at 135 West Green Street in the heart of historic Marshall, MI, on Monday May 5, 2025 starting at 12:00 noon, with visitation for friends and family one hour prior.  Officiating will be Rev. Anthony Voltattorni. Interment will take place at Porter Cemetery in Convis Township.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
