Marie (Latzko) Antoni

Marie Antoni, 97, of  Higgins Lake, passed away on Saturday August 19, 2023 at The Brook of Houghton Lake.

Marie was born on July 10, 1926 in Glaserhau, Slovakia to August and Anastasia  (Schwartz) Latzko. She spent her early life in Slovakia and Germany. She married her childhood sweetheart Josef on May 15, 1948 and they started their life together and had a daughter in a small village in Germany. In 1956 they immigrated to the United States and moved to the Detroit area.

Marie worked for St. John Hospital for most of her working life. They retired and moved to Higgins Lake in 1991, enjoying their life together, until Josef's passing in 2022. Marie was a devoted member of St. Hubert Catholic Church. She also enjoyed playing Euchre and Pinochle with Josef and her friends, and was lucky to travel the world with the Roscommon Area School District Community Education Group. She loved her family, and especially her grandsons and great granddaughter. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she will be truly missed.

Surviving Marie Antoni are her loving Daughter, Inge (Frank) Bommarito; Grandson, Jesse (Stacy Clarke) Bommarito, Great Granddaughter, Kira Bommarito and Grandson, John (Kristen Snyder) Bommarito. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her Husband, Josef Antoni; Brothers, August and Joseph Latzko; and her Parents, August and Anastasia Latzko.

The family of Marie would like to extend special thanks for the quality of care and friendship provided by the staff of the Brook of Houghton Lake and The Care Team Hospice.  

Funeral Services for Marie Antoni will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 7612 W. Higgins Lake Dr. Roscommon, MI 48653. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and run until the time of Mass. Her interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Higgins Lake.

Memorial contributions in memory of Marie are asked to be directed to St. Hubert Catholic Church, or your charity of choice.
