Cadillac, Michigan - Mark Robert Fortlage, of Cadillac, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2018, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 53.
Mark was born on March 27, 1965, at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac, Michigan to Robert "Bob" Fortlage and Dolores Kaye (Uptegraft) Fortlage. He attended Lincoln School and was a graduate from Cadillac High School in 1983. After which, he took several classes at Ferris State University. He played in CASA Little League Baseball and Football. Mark was an avid hunter and fisherman, until an injury caused him to give up many things. He worked for the City of Cadillac forestry department in high school and then the street department for the City of Cadillac for the remainder of his career. Mark was a devoted Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan.
Mark is survived by his loyal friend and companion, 12 year old lab, Tucker; father, Bob (Donna) Fortlage; mother, Kaye (Jerry) Snyder ; three aunts, Audrey Wilkinson, Noni (Dick) Sias and Polly (Jerry) Jeffers; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Erwin and Gladys (Clark) Fortlage; and Elzie and Ila (Smith) Uptegraft; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A committal service will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The American Cancer Society or Munson Cadillac Hospice.
