Mary Lou (Domeny) Pennington

Mary Lou  Pennington, 91, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday January 4, 2026 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Mary Lou was born on June 9, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Walter and Vera (Rudd) Domeny. She grew up in the Detroit area where she graduated from Detroit Lincoln High School.  Mary Lou moved to Houghton Lake from Detroit in 1955.  On September 11, 1999 in Houghton Lake, Mary Lou was married to Oval Pennington.  She worked in the Houghton Lake High School Cafeteria for many years from which she retired.  Mary Lou  attended Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed bowling, but her special passion was spending time with her family and she loved playing grandma.

Surviving Mrs. Pennington are her loving husband of 26 years, Oval  Pennington of Houghton Lake; daughter, Mindy Limmer of Prudenville; son, Mark Parr of VA; four grandchildren, Lisa Parr, Shannon Voelker, Tracy(Brian) Hallead, and Niki Lou Limmer; seven great grandchildren, Seth(Gretchen), Austin, Cole, Marcus, Kaleb, Kain, and Emma.  Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents. 

Graveside Cemetery Services for Mary Lou  Pennington will be conducted in the spring.  Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary Lou are asked to be directed to Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
