Matthew Dean Clark

Matthew Dean Clark, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at his home. He was 61.

Matt was born on December 19, 1964, in Lansing, Michigan, to Dorwin and Marilyn (Sarlouis) Clark. He graduated from Haslett High School with the Class of 1983 and went on to build a successful career with General Motors, where he proudly worked for 27 years as a Team Leader before enjoying a well-earned retirement. Matt found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Whether he was hunting in the woods, fishing on the water, camping with family and friends, or spending a relaxing day floating down the river, he embraced every opportunity to enjoy nature and create lasting memories. His happiest moments were often those spent with the people he loved most. Matt cherished time with his children and especially his grandchildren, who brought endless pride and happiness to his life. He never missed a chance to share a story, lend a helping hand, or make someone laugh. He was known by many as a true social butterfly, Matt had a remarkable gift for connecting with people. His home was a gathering place where friends and family were always welcomed with open arms. The door was never closed for long, and visitors could count on good conversation, laughter, and friendship whenever they stopped by. Matt's circle of friends was extensive, and the relationships he built throughout his life were a testament to his kind heart, generous spirit, and genuine love for others.

Matt will be remembered for his warmth, his sense of humor, his love of the outdoors, and his unwavering dedication to family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but the countless memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Matt is survived by his loving children, Matthew (Kelly) Clark of Laingsburg; Alesha (Richard) Sawvel of Lake City; grandchildren, Jaxson, Hunter, and River; siblings, Mike Clark, and Dawn Morrison; mother of his children, Audrey Clark; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorwin and Marilyn Clark; brother-in-law, Rod Morrison.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 2 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home.
